Who Is John Xavier?
At Elephant Biz, one of soon-to-be Tennessee Republican Party flack Bill Hobbs’ blogging haunts, there appears to be a new voice who answered Hobbs’ call to service when he announced that he would cease posting on the site due to the demands of his new duties.
I say appears because when one looks at the site one finds a new poster named John Xavier who claims an interestingly non-descript political pedigree.
However, when you look at my Bloglines application it would appear that the login being used is still the same as before: the login of Bill Hobbs.
Normally, when different authors post from the same site a different name and email appear. Is John Xavier using a different login or the same one as Hobbs? Is there really a John Xavier or is Hobbs looking to continue this blogging gig while working at the Tennessee Republican Party but needed a pseudonym?
Did Hobbs just change the name on the login? Is Bill Hobbs John Xavier?
UPDATE: Sean Braisted says that based on Xavier’s words on Rudy Giuliani, Fred Thompson is not pro-life.
UPDATE II: Bill Hobbs in the comments:
It’s not me. I said a few weeks ago I was no longer going to be daily blogging at ElephantBiz.com. They have recruited a new writer. KnowMore Media has my login info. Not sure why Xavier’s post today showed up in your feedburner feed with my email address on it.
My last post was Government in the Age of Web 2.0, on Sept. 20.

Or maybe it is Steve Forrest.

Sometimes this internet can be tricky. My blog is hosted by Chattablogs. On Bloglines, everything shows up correctly; but on Technorati, for example, a lot of my stuff gets attributed to “Ben Huffine,” who is, I think, a member of the team that maintains the Chattablogs site.
I guess I’m saying that it’s possible that there is a John Xavier III, yet that the feed picked up by Bloglines points back to a userid that set it up, ie Bill Hobbs.
Have there been any other authors listed on Bloglines for Elephant Biz posts?

Not to my knowledge. Your explanation would make sense. I am not making an assertion, I am just asking a question.

Are you calling Bill Hobbs a sock puppet? Them’s fighting words …

I do expect to continue blogging at Ecotality.com/Life, and also at BillHobbs.com after I start working at the TN GOP on Oct. 29, though how often I don’t know.
Thanks for your interest!

P.S. - I still have my login and am welcome to post at ElephantBiz.com, and may do so some in the future, but probably not very often. Clearly, once I’m on board at the TN GOP I won’t be doing posts endorsing candidates in GOP primaries. I may write some about politics and the web, stuff like that, or book reviews, but that’s stuff I’ll be doing anyway for my own blog. I may just cross-post it there.
I also blog occasionally at NewsBusters.org, and may post some things there from time to time after 10/29.
