She’s Going Out And She’s Taking All Y’all With Her

Sarcastro believes Hillary Clinton is done no matter what happens in Texas and Ohio on Tuesday. But it won’t be pretty.

Back to the race for the Democratic nomination. The ugly truth is that Barack Obama has momentum. That momentum will cost Hillary Clinton the nomination that was hers to lose. Bank on it. The upcoming contests in Texas and Ohio will put the final nail in her coffin. Don’t get me wrong, she could still win one or even both of those primaries. But, not by enough. “Proportional delegates” will be the phrase she mutters over and over as she spends the remaining years plotting revenge and collecting cats in her Chappaqua home.

Don’t expect her to lose with dignity and go quietly. It is going to get brutal. The Dems eat their young. She will roll into the convention with enough delegates to make some substantial demands. Several books will be written detailing the back room machinations that went on in various Denver hotel suites during the last week of August 2008.

A thought: Could the risk of an ugly convention and the fact that the superdelegates may decide the contest lead Al Gore to step up as a candidate for President at the convention and then choose Barack Obama as his runningmate?

   Although I kind of like the idea of Obama as Heat Miser and Clinton as Cold Miser and Gore as Mother Nature.

   Is this a serious question? Hillary will exit and she won’t have any more bargaining power than any other powerful member of the Democratic Party. Maybe he’ll promise to appoint her to the Supreme Court.

   While Al Gore may be a demi-god in Tennessee, I don’t think he’s more popular inside the Democratic party than Obama or Hillary…why we’d throw out the votes of millions of Democrats to hand it to Al Gore is beyond me.

   Demi-God in TN? They sure didn’t think so in 2000. Florida is a nice Dem fairy tale, but Gore losing his own home state (most likely as a result of his Clinton induced flop on gun control) is what really cost him the White House.
